Original lightweight Sentinel railcar tested by the LNER and subsequently bought.

Two railcars involved, both similar. 

Neither were named.

LNER Sentinel railcar d153

Rebuilt version of one (12E) of the original lightweight Sentinel railcar tested by the LNER and subsequently bought. Two railcars originally, both similar. Only  one was rebuilt, with larger engine, lengthened cab section, raised body and draw gear fitted. 

Neither were named.

First two articulated railcars introduced in 1927, after successful trials of lightweight Sentinel railcars. 
Followed by modified version D89 in 1928.
Used mostly in north east. Most withdrawn by 1940 but some were not finally withdrawn till 1947

Original supplied in 1930 to Axholme Joint Railway which was joint owned with the LMS. When that railway closed in 1933 railcar transferred to LNER.
