FAR CM62 mechanical horse 3 wheel tractor unit 

(CAB ONLY) 

The French licensed version of classic Scammell 3 wheeler road tractor unit built by FAR, used by railways and other industries. This is the post war 
version. 

       
Scammell Scarab 

(CAB ONLY) 


Scammell introduced the Mechanical Horse in 1933. It was originally very basic, with no side doors. Two versions were produced, a 3Ton and a 6 Ton. doors were later added as standard, and the windscreen altered from flat to slanted .
in 1948a new design was produced, the Scarab. This had a number of improvements, and was also produced a 3 ton and 6 ton version. 
This is cab for both 3 ton and 6 ton versions.

FAR CM62 mechanical horse tractor unit

The French company FAR produced a licensed version of the Scammell Mechanical Horse from about 1938. After the war the developed a new version, the equivalent of the Scarab produced by Scammell. This was the CM62. It was a 6 ton tractor unit.
FAR continued to develop their version of the mechanical horse, including 3ton and a light weight 1 ton tractor. Production of FAR tractor units continued into the 1970s, a few years after Scammell stopped their own versions.
  
FAR 6 ton mechanical horse tractor unit

Trailers Trailers to suit every sort of load were also produced, in 3 ton and 6 ton versions. 

Each could only be towed by its own type of tractor.

Similar trailers were used for both Scammell and FAR tractors,

A jockey wheel and support is included, which should be detached. Fit  if trailer is intended to be standing separate from tractor.

Cycle Rickshaw

Originally developed in the 1880s in Asia. Soon took over from traditional rickshaw.
Found popularity in the west towards end of 20th century, and then evolved into 21st century pedicab, with development of e-bike technology.

Rickshaw style bike trailer



Based on the cycle rickshaw. Trailers like these were used from early days of cycling, including motor bikes, but mud splattering resulted in side cars being developed. Trailers for bikes were still being used in France during German occupation in the 1940s. E-bike technology resolves many of the power problems towing trailers.
