History

One Planet(Accrington) Ltd is a social enterprise project co-ordinated by the PROSPECTS Foundation, Hyndburn's community owned environmental charity.

Our idea is to open an environmentally friendly cafe and shop in the town of Accrington in East Lancashire.

We have a dedicated group of volunteers who are all working towards a vision of setting up as a co-operative. In January 2010 we started to receive support from the Co-op Bank to develop our ideas. with a share issue or new co-operative launched in July 2010 and we would hope to open One Planet later in 2010.

If you would like to join our group you are more than welcome.

ONE PLANET WORKSHOP

To help the project get started and noticed locally one volunteer Simon Dawson has been manning a stall(no 14 opposite Fish stalls) on outside market in Accrington every Tuesday since November 2009, missing only one week owing to extreme weather!

This stall  called 'One Planet Workshop' is based around a number of the activities proposed for the main project, namely art and craftwork created from recycled materials, eco friendly soaps, a notice-board showing local eco events and activities and leaflets promoting local environmental activities.

Only a basic display awaiting soaps. The strange shaped items on right are paper-weights made from melted down plastic waste. Train carrying plastic bottle tops is running round track. Movement seems to attract attention!
Soaps now taking prominent position The Council signage for stall is rather appropriate.
